Jayne L. Kowalski, 64, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022, after a courageous battle with Cancer. Beloved wife of Brendan for 43 years. Daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Polczynski. Loving sister of Karen (Kevin) Liske, Bruce Polczynski, Lori (Peter) Manos, Catherine (James) Watson, and Joseph Polczynski. Dearest aunt of Alyssa Polczynski, Dylan Manos, Paige (John) Osterman, Theresa (Mark) Kesner, Cheryl (Elliott) Burke, Curtis (Julie) Hanba, Craig (Alex) Hanba, Cindy Hanba, Kevin (Lisa) Vollmert, Ryan (Jamie) Vollmert and several great nieces and nephews.
The eldest of six siblings, Jayne took on a maternal role when her mother was stricken with a debilitating illness. She lived her life with strength and determination. An honors graduate of Detroit’s Finney High School, Jayne earned a merit scholarship to Wayne State University where she studied business and accounting. Upon graduation, she joined General Motors where she held various finance and accounting positions for over 40 years. While at GM, she continued her education at the University of Detroit where she earned her MBA. Throughout her life, Jayne was an avid supporter of her family’s educational pursuits.
Jayne loved reading and learning new things. She was a master at playing Jeopardy and reveled in Jeopardy competitions with her husband. She loved to travel and enjoyed knitting, sewing and just about any craft project she could get her hands on. But above all else, Jayne valued her relationships with family and friends and would do anything for them.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 25800 Harper Avenue, St. Clair Shores. Funeral Mass, Friday, September 30, 2022 at St. Veronica Catholic Church, 21440 Universal Avenue, Eastpointe. Instate at 9:30 am until time of Mass at 10:00 am.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society or St. Veronica Catholic Church.
