Angela LaMarra

Angela LaMarra (Violo) passed away peacefully on November 26, 2022.
 
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Luigi, and sons Franco (Sherrie Weitzman) Dominic and Michael (Michele), grandchildren Michael (Sarah) LaMarra, Nicholas (Nick) LaMarra, Ashleigh (Dennis) Perry, Summer LaMarra, Jessica LaMarra and great grandson Jameson Perry.
 
She is preceded in death by her son Benedetto, her parents, Michele and Maria Violo and her sister Ida.
 
Additional survivors include her brother Pietro (Patricia) Violo and many nieces and nephews. 
 
Angela recently celebrated her 90th birthday surrounded by her family and friends at Villa Bella.
 
Born in 1932 in the village of Portella, Italy, Angela and Luigi immigrated to the US in 1955 with their two eldest sons Benedetto and Franco and made a wonderful life for their family on the east side of Detroit. Sons Dominic and Michael were born in Detroit.
 
Amongst her many noteworthy achievements and hobbies, Angela and her husband Luigi founded Il Coro Italiano in 1980. Their musical group performed statewide for many local, national and international dignitaries. 
 
Angela was the consummate mother, “Nonna” and devoted wife and friend to all who knew her and will truly be missed.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 3-8pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 16350 E. Fifteen Mile Rd., Sterling Heights, MI.

Funeral Mass Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 10am with Instate at 9:30am at San Francesco Catholic Church, 22870 S. Nunneley, Clinton Township, MI.
