Mario F Piva

Mario F. Piva, age 94, passed away Wednesday, June 21 at his home. He was born Feb. 11, 1923 in Castel Franco Veneto, Italy. During WWII Mr. Piva was a member of the Italian Air Force. After the war Mr. Piva became a tool & die maker, however in his spare time he crafted items out of different metals using old fashioned metal forming techniques. He kept an amazing garden, his flowers were always best in show. His appreciation of good food prompted his cultivation of superior vegetables. The dinner table was frequently adorned with fresh fare from one of his hunting or fishing excursions; knowledge of which he would impart to friends and family, helping them to hone their own capabilities. Reading, coin and stamp collecting were another interests, as well as trips to the casino. Most importantly Mr. Piva was a family man in every sense of the word. He adored his wife and children.
Mario is survived by his son, Roberto (Kimberly) and daughter Paola; grandchildren Antonio and Bryant. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Giovanna.
Visitation is Friday, June 23, 2017, from 3pm until 9pm; and Saturday, June 24, 2017, 9:30am until the time of the funeral service 10:30am, at the St. Clair Shores Chapel of Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 25800 Harper Ave. (3 blocks north of 10 Mile Road).
