Marco A. Caponi

Caponi, Marco, age 91, October 6, 2017. Beloved husband of Fortunata “Tina” for 60 years. Predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters. Survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in the USA, Italy and Ireland.
Born on September 20, 1926, Marco Caponi grew up in a world quite different in many ways from the one we know today. Born in Arquata Del Tronto, Pretare, Italy as the youngest of 7 children, he departed Italy for the United States in 1947 in order to seek out better opportunities for a good life to support his family, who all remained in Italy. He met Fortunata Ciavatta in Detroit and later married her on June 15, 1957 at a ceremony at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church. Marco was employed for Dodge as a Hi-Lo driver and various other duties, and then worked for “Fruehauf Trailer Company” as a welder for 9 years, until he eventually began his own company with two partners in 1964, “Rite-Way Trailer Service Inc.” on Mound Road in Warren. He was then fortunate enough to retire at the age of 59 in 1985.
His hobbies and passions over the years were cross-country skiing, golfing and bowling. He had participated in many bowling leagues benefiting various charities over the years throughout Macomb County. He enjoyed working outdoors, beautifying his some surroundings with a great appreciation for nature and all species of birds. Marco Caponi has lived and tasted of life throughout this period and it has given him insight, experience and wisdom few of us can fully appreciate.
Visitation at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 25800 Harper Ave. (3 blocks North of 10 Mile on East Side of Street) Friday 3-9pm with 7pm Rosary. Instate at San Francesco Catholic Church, 22870 S. Nunneley Rd., Clinton Twp., Saturday 9:30am until time of Mass 10am. Entombment later in Arquata Del Tronto, Pretare, Italy. Memorial contributions may be made to the Solanus Casey Center or Shrine of St. Pio of Pietrelcina.
